Children’s Book Project

One morning, I woke up dreaming the cover of a book, with a title that said, “Once There Was a Boy”. I thought, “That’s not a boy, that’s a dragon!” And then I wondered, “What kind of a child feels like a dragon?” A special-needs child, that’s who.

I have spent the last several years working out a story and illustrations. The child is different on the outside, which represents how different he feels on the inside. Don’t we all feel like we are different from everyone else, somehow?

In my efforts to figure out the pictures, I’ve benefitted greatly by taking the Children’s Book Pro classes at SVSLearn.com. I’m documenting the process of this book on my videoblog at Drawing Friends Together.
